Rory Curtis

Rory Curtis is an experienced business owner and retail executive with more than 35 years of experience across sales, operations, people management, marketing and business development. He brings a practical, hands-on approach to business mentoring, shaped by his experience building, growing and selling businesses.

Rory began his retail career in 1986, working his way through various roles before progressing into store management. In 2001, he became a joint venture partner and opened The Good Guys South Tweed and built the business into a 2500 SQM electrical retailing store with 36 staff.  The business and its team received industry recognition and numerous business excellence awards before Rory sold his interest in June 2016.

In 2018 Rory and his business partner acquired Designer Bathrooms Plus, a specialist bathroom retail business servicing homeowners, builders and design professionals. Since then, Rory has focused on strengthening the business, developing its brand and customer experience, building supplier relationships and positioning the business around quality products and personalised service.

Throughout his career, Rory has served on industry and university advisory boards, contributed to national advertising and merchandise committees, and served as President of the Tweed Heads Chamber of Commerce for two years.

As a volunteer business mentor with Business Mentors Sunshine Coast, Rory aims to help business owners work through challenges, identify opportunities, improve their decision-making and build businesses that deliver both commercial success and a better balance between work and life.
